Our goals include: Building lasting relationships with each of our Clients and being here when they need us; keeping them informed of the progress of their matters, and supporting them along the way; listening to our Clients, to understand what they want, while determining and advising them of their best interests; and working to achieve the best possible results for our Clients, whether through litigation or alternative dispute resolution.
We work as a team.
We work in a team-oriented way and benefit from the collaboration of our combined experience. Our clients’ files are handled by a team who share a central passion for understanding and helping our clients. Our law practice technology and file organization habits help further this teamwork internally as we keep abreast of what each other is doing. In the end, this team mentality helps our clients. Team activities such as our daily workouts strengthen this team-focused culture.
We utilize quality research.
We also do not skimp on legal research. We are a small firm but use Westlaw, a research service by Thompson Reuters that is the same tool used by the courts and most large firms and is considered by many to be the best legal research provider. We keep abreast of our areas of law through continuing legal education, reading legal updates, and regularly conducting research.
We embrace technology.
Since the firm began in 2010, we have been “paperless.” Unlike an old-fashioned-style law firm, we do not keep paper files or maintain a “file room.” Rather, our files are maintained in a secure, cloud-based system that our legal team and clients can access from anywhere they have computer and Internet access. Our client portal, “Clio Connect,” allows clients to log onto a secure portal to access shared documents, tasks, calendar events, and invoices as well as communicate with us via secure messaging. Clio Connect allows our clients to view their file documents at any time of day and receive instant notification of new developments. Apps for iPhone or Android are available.

A MAN NAMED Peter Sloan, purported son of William Shatner, sued the James T. Kirk/Danny Crane actor for defamation in February. The Middle District of Florida (Tampa division) quickly dismissed the original complaint but gave Sloan leave to file an amended complaint, which he did do. Shatner filed another motion to dismiss. On August 3, 2017, the…
Doesn’t everyone? ???? OK, maybe not everyone wants to sue for emotional distress. But a common query attorneys hear is, “How can I recover for all the emotional stress I’ve endured?” A few different theories of liability allow for damages related to mental anguish. However, a cause of action also exists called “intentional infliction of…
FLORIDA HAS a particular law that pertains to serving notice, like sending a demand letter, or cease and desist letter, prior to filing a lawsuit for defamation. However, written notice of defamation is only required in certain circumstances. The question of whether such notice is necessary is not always so easy to answer, as the statute lacks specificity.…
EARLIER THIS year, a new federal law went into effect designed to prevent businesses from keeping their customers from writing negative reviews or turning over, to the business, the copyright ownership of their reviews. The Consumer Review Fairness Act (CRFA), 15 U.S.C. § 45b, provides that if a contract prohibits or restricts the ability of someone to…
HAVE YOU or someone you know received a letter or email (usually from “satscams”) saying it was from Dish Network LLC, EchoStar Technologies, and NagraStar LLC (collectively “NagraStar”)? Does the NagraStar letter or satscams email say you bought “IKS passcodes for pirate television services”? Does it include an offer to settle NagraStar’s claims in exchange for a lump…
Florida’s First Judicial Circuit recently found it unlikely that the Sandshaker Lounge would be able to prove trademark dilution of its ‘Shaker’ mark by the ‘Shaka Bar.’ Here’s the story. Livin’ off sponge cake . . . WAY UP in the panhandle — about a six-hour drive from Orlando — one beach bar has been trying to “shake…
RipOff Report recently underwent a subtle change that has caused reports Google previously removed from its search engine — even based on court orders — to reappear, without many people realizing it. RipOff Report is a website notorious for refusing to remove defamatory “reviews” in the name of free speech. It hosts more than just honest consumer reviews. Many…
You obtained a brilliant shot of the inside of the new Orlando City stadium. A blaze of purple spirit, a gorgeous image. Undeniably Orlando! And you have so many theme park photos! Can you sell T-shirts with these photos or use them to advertise your business? Of course you can. However, be warned: You may be sued if you are using…
WITH THE outrageous cost of cable these days, it’s no surprise many people look to other sources for their viewing pleasure. Enter torrenting and streaming: two online sources to watch free movies. But are they free? Could you unknowingly be exposing yourself to potential liability in the hundreds of thousands of dollars by torrenting or…
I started writing this blog in August 2015. At the time, we were still defending Malibu Media cases, and BitTorrent litigation, though waning (having taken a year-long break), was still topical in Florida. However, it soon became stale because, in October 1, 2015, Malibu Media filed its very last copyright infringement lawsuits in the state of Florida. So I…
