A new copyright troll case, West Coast Productions, Inc. v. Does 1-675, 3:12-cv-964-TJC-TEM, was filed in the Jacksonville Division of the Middle District of Florida on August 29, 2012, by Jeffrey W. Weaver of Dunlap, Grubb & Weaver, PLLC, who also represents other trolls Celestial, Inc. and Nu Image, Inc.
The lawsuit is filed against 675 individuals, identified only by their I.P. addresses, for the alleged illegal downloading of a pornography film with a title too obscene to repeat here. (However, we did upload a copy of the complaint, if you’re that curious.)
On August 31, 2012, West Coast Productions filed a motion asking for permission to serve subpoenas on the individuals’ Internet Service Providers. The case is before Judge Timothy J. Corrigan and Magistrate Judge Thomas E. Morris.
Based on previous cases in the Middle District of Florida, the Court will probably grant the motion, and Dunlap, Grubb & Weaver will issue subpoenas to Comcast, Verizon, or other ISPs, who will then send out letters to their subscribers, alerting them that they may be able to protect their information if they file something with the Middle District of Florida.
If you get such a letter from your ISP stating that your I.P. address was implicated in this lawsuit or accusing you of illegal downloads, feel free to call Attorney Conlin at 407-965-5519 for a free consultation. Attorney Conlin has been representing anonymous John Does in various cases filed by Copyright Trolls, including Celestial Inc., Nu Image Inc., Malibu Media LLC, Patrick Collins, Exquisite Multimedia, and more.
