‘Compliance Services’ is at it again

Last year, about this time, I wrote a blog entry after receiving a letter from “Compliance Services” urging me to submit an Annual Minutes Requirement Statement.  Just the other day I received the same letter – again.

The address, coming from Florida’s capital city, is arguably deceptive, making the letter appear to be from a the state government.  However, “400 Capital Cir SE” is actually a UPS Store in Tallahassee.

“Compliance Services” is a private company not affiliated with the Department of State.  Like last year’s mailing, the company asks recipients to “Submit a check for $125.00 payable to Compliance Services.”  The Florida Department of State Division of Corporations is currently posting a “Consumer Alert” warning at the top of its home page, alerting consumers to not confuse these notices with messages sent by the Division of Corporations.  Therefore, be careful.
