I have begun getting new calls about notifications from ISPs relating to CEG TEK International. I had previously heard of this company sending out notices related to stock photo infringement, but now it looks like they may be representing adult film companies such as Froytal Services Limited DBA Brazzers (a Cyprus company), Manwin Content RK Limited DBA Realty Kings (currently based out of Ireland), and Patrick Collins, Inc. DBA Elegant Angel, which is a more well-known copyright Plaintiff.
I did a quick search on the U.S. Copyright Office website and I found 893 copyrights registered to Froytal Services Limited; most appeared to have been registered in 2012 or 2013. I also found 540 registration listings under Manwin Content RK Limited, several of which were registered by a firm in Florida. That concerns me, because it makes me wonder if we may be seeing lawsuits involving Manwin Content.
So far, on the date of writing this blog, I have not seen any lawsuits from Manwin Content RK Limited; however, there’s a first time for everything.
If you receive one of these “Copyright Infringement Notifications,” it generally will list the name, address, and telephone number for CEG TEK International. Do not call that number; if you do, you may inadvertently disclose your identity. Because every situation is different, and each should be analyzed individually, I do not like to give blanket advice in a blog about these specific matters.
The blanket advice I can give, however, is, as always: (1) Stop downloading from BitTorrent sites, (2) Make sure your router is password-protected, and (3) Instruct everyone who has access to your router to stop using BitTorrents. If you get a notice, it does not necessarily mean a lawsuit has been filed, but you should, nevertheless, still be cautious. When in doubt, give us a call, and we can talk you through your options.
